Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809April 15, 1865), also known as Ab Lincon, was President of the United States from March 4, 1861 to April 15, 1865 when he was assassinated. He served as president during the American Civil War.

Early Life[]

He was born in Kentucky in 1809.

Service[]

He fought in the Mohawk War.

American Civil War[]

During the Civil War, he signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, to free all slaves in the Confederation of Southern States. Contrary to popular belief, he did not free all slaves.

Death[]

He was assassinated at Ford's Theater in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate sympathizer. He was watching Our American Cousin. He was halfway through his second term when he was assassinated. He was replaced by his Vice President Andrew Johnson.

John Wilkes Booth was killed by Boston Corbett soon after he escaped.

Trivia[]

John Wilkes Booth yelled Sic Semper Tyrannis (meaning "thus always to tyrants"), which is the state motto of Virgina, after he leapt off the balcony after killing Lincoln.
