January 1 is the first day of the year. Several events happened.
On December 31, 1940, London was bombed. The next day, January 1, 1941, showed that eight churches built by Christopher Wren, were destroyed, along with the Central Criminal Court, and the townhall.
Also on this day, the British Royal Air Force, bombed factories in Bremen, Germany.
On this day, the Germans launced Operation North Wind, one of the last major operations of Germany. There was hardly a clear objective, other than simply destroy enemy forces. This ended on January 25.
