The liberation of Paris was commenced by Dwight Eisenhower After D-Day, June 6, 1944. The Germans marched in and within one day, they had taken control of the city. 2 Days after that, most Parisians had been evacuated away, leaving the Germans in full command. The Canadians, British, and Americans had to corner the Germans until they were boxed in at Chambois. The Canadians and Polish took the hill that the Germans were based, so the Americans in Chabois had to hold them all off. Messages went to every squad in Chambois, saying: 'Poles taken hill 262. Germans coming towards your position. Every last God forsaken one of them.' After the victory in Chambois, the Americans slaughtered the retreating German Transportation and the Liberation of Paris was complete
